Using Science to Enrich Beautiful Landscapes
Serviceberry trees do very well under good conditions. Be careful not to over water and make sure they have proper drainage. They will not like to have their feet wet all the time. 2 common issues they get are simple to control. Spider Mites and Quince Rust.
Spider Mites cause the leaves to look tan and dusty in appearance. These insects will cause some thinning and can be easily controlled with a regular treatment plan of 3 times per year.
Quince Rust infects the leaves in the spring causing them to turn red in summer and yellow before eventually dropping in late summer. A regular treatment plan will provide adequate control so long a spring fungicide was applied.
