Scale can be a very messy thing to deal with. Once the Scale insects build up in density their honeydew residue creates a black stain on everything below. The honeydew also attracts bees and wasps during the summer months and encourages wasps to build their nests nearby or right in the Magnolia itself. Magnolia Scale is very easy to control. We recommend a dormant oil in the early spring and a summer treatment of Talus insecticide during the crawler stage for complete control.
