Using Science to Enrich Beautiful Landscapes
Azalea’s are beautiful flowering shrubs that require a little attention to keep them going strong. They love acidic soils so if you’re Ph is too high an organic fertilizer with a Ph reducer should be applied. The only disease that may attack them is Phytophora Root Rot but this would be a result of poor drainage and/or too much water. We have a soil fungicide that will help deal with root rot if you are requiring assistance. Black Vine Weevils are a serious pest when their populations build up rapidly. The larva stage chews on the root system causing the plant to under perform while the adult stage chews on the leaf material. Typically 2 insecticide treatments per year will be enough to keep this insect under control.
